The IMarEST is the professional
institution and learned society for those operating in the maritime
engineering, science and technology sectors. Membership IMarEST membership
is open to everyone associated with marine resources and activities.
The institute's 15,000 members
are based in over 100 countries around the world, as well as at sea,
and come from all sectors of the professional marine community. Experienced,
competent, qualified people may gain formal, international recognition
of professional status.
Publishing
The institute is a leading publisher in the maritime sector. Periodicals
include the Marine Engineers Review, The Marine Scientist, the Journal
of Offshore Technology and Shipping World & Shipbuilder (incorporating
Maritime IT & Electronics). Research papers include the Journal of Marine
Science & Environment, the Journal of Marine Engineering & Technology
and the Journal of Marine Design & Operations. The IMarEST also publishes
books on marine engineering, science and technology subjects.

The IMarEST organises a wide range of events and conferences of interest

Information The institute offers many opportunities to learn, to stay
in touch and to be well-informed and well-connected both in ones specialist
marine-related field and in the wider marine context. Besides its various
publishing activities, the institute operates the Marine Information
Centre, one of the largest maritime libraries and sources of data in
the world, offering a wealth of knowledge and technical information,
both at Coleman Street, London, where it is based, or via remote access.

The IMarEST operates a new Members' Recruitment Service offering: employers
access to highly competent, skilled, qualified and well-connected job
candidates; and members access to the latest jobs.
IMarEST's City Conference Centre
Located within the heart of the City of London and close to many of
London's famous attractions, the City Conference Centre - home of the
IMarEST - houses a number of interesting maritime artefacts associated
with famous individuals and maritime history, making it an ideal venue
for events, conferences, diners and meetings with a maritime feel. All
rooms are decorated to the highest standards with modern high-tech facilities,
yet with charm and character associated with an historical building.
