On 25 March 2026, Maritime London held the Annual General Meeting for the year 2025 in the historic Court Room of the Watermen’s Hall in London, during which Philippa Charlton, Chief Marketing Officer of Lloyd’s Register was elected to the Board of Directors and Jos Standerwick delivered a report.
In his final AGM report, Jos reflected on his eight years leading Maritime London, a period marked by extraordinary geopolitical, regulatory, and economic upheaval. He recalled early discussions about the Sulphur Cap, noting that no one could have anticipated the succession of major events that followed: COVID‑19, the invasion of Ukraine, disruptions to Suez, and the current crisis in the Gulf. These shocks, alongside new regulatory requirements such as CII, EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime and the proposed Net Zero Framework, have reshaped how the shipping industry manages risk and compliance.
Jos Standerwick said: “All of this has changed how our industry operates, how it manages risk, and how it thinks about compliance. Throughout this period of complexity, the London market has adapted, and as various industry reports continue to state, shown remarkable resilience and positioned itself firmly as a solution centre for global shipping. However, throughout this turbulent time, the London market has continuoustly demonstrated resilience.”
The AGM was followed by an evening reception to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Maritime London’s incorporation, which was well attended by well over 120 guests – members, current and former directors, and government representatives, including Maritime Minister Keir Mather MP.
