Ince enhances global maritime offering with new Maritime and Marine Insurance team

Posted on: 27 May 2021

International legal and professional services firm Ince has announced the continued growth and development of its maritime division with the imminent addition of a specialist and highly experienced shipping team to its Bristol office.

Daniel Crockford and Alex Penberthy will join Ince as Partners, adding their extensive shipping dispute resolution, yacht, superyacht and personal injury expertise. The team will work closely with Ince’s long established London and International maritime teams in order to complement its premier global maritime offering.

Daniel, who will lead the team, specialises in contentious shipping and marine insurance and has an unrivalled reputation in the yacht and superyacht industry. He has advised and acted on a variety of cases including collision, damage and salvage claims, theft and fraudulent claims, and defending marine professionals and marinas.

Alex is an expert in marine litigation with strong experience in cross jurisdictional claims and personal injury. He regularly advises on marine related accidents and prosecutions, cargo and freight claims, and supports insurers, P&I Clubs, and ferry operators in relation to claims involving merchant, fishing, passenger and pleasure vessels.

The team will join Ince in July and be bolstered with an additional three appointments. Clarissa Dumolo joins as Managing Associate; she has solid experience in the marine industry and particular expertise in insurance fraud. Joanna Mansel joins as Senior Associate, and Markella Padoplou joins as a Paralegal.

Commenting on the appointments, Adrian Biles, Chief Executive of the Ince Group, said: “Our global shipping offering continues to go from strength to strength. This new team hire forms part of our strategy to strengthen our Bristol office by aligning our services with London and international. I’m delighted to welcome Daniel, Alex and their team on board.”

Julian Clark, Senior Partner, added: “The reputation that Daniel and Alex have built in recent years is second to none. They will be an extremely valuable addition to our already outstanding Bristol and London teams, and complement our existing personal injury as well as yacht and superyacht capability. We are committed to providing our clients with the very best advice and support, and these appointments are proof of that. I’m looking forward to working closely with them.”

Speaking on the announcement, Daniel Crockford said: “The team and I are extremely excited about this move. Ince has a superb reputation in the maritime sector, and we are looking forward to working collectively with the team to provide Ince’s clients with high-value strategic advice and support.”
