The London company market’s senior committee for discussing issues of re/insurance regulation is under new leadership. Matthew Dumbrell, General Counsel for the UK branch of Generali has been appointed Chair of the International Underwriting Association (IUA)’s Legal and Regulatory Committee. He will be working with the trade body’s secretariat to set the group’s future agenda and lead debate amongst members.
The committee monitors the development of legal, regulatory, international trade, accounting and taxation changes affecting the London Market. It co-ordinates IUA responses to official consultation exercises and represents member interests to government and supervisory bodies both in the UK and internationally.
Two new Deputy Chairs have also been appointed: Dominic How, General Counsel at HSB Engineering Insurance and Faye Ingham, Compliance Officer Reinsurance UK branch SMF16 at Swiss Re.
Helen Dalziel, the IUA’s Director of Public Policy, said: “Our Legal and Regulatory Committee is made up of senior legal counsel from across the market who provide expert insight and analysis of the legislative framework governing our sector.
“Their support is essential to helping the IUA pursue its mission of securing an optimal trading environment for our sector and Matthew Dumbrell is ideally positioned to lead the group. I look forward to working with him and two new Deputy Chairs.”
The new appointments are taking over from the Legal and Regulatory Committee’s previous Chair Laura Phillips, Head of Legal, Risk & Compliance at HDI Global Specialty – UK and Deputy Chair Brendan Baxter, Regional Head of Legal and Compliance at Allianz Commercia
